not the best product description

I spent a lot of nights in hotel rooms this past semester. One of the perks of hotels are those little travel sized toiletries that you can scarf.

I went to open a new bar of soap, courtesy of the Four Seasons, Philadelphia. But, before doing so, I read the product description on the back:

"French Milled Pure Palm Oil Soap. Product of Thailand where skilled Craftsmen have painstakingly molded and milled this Soap...."

Reactions:

1. A French product. Made in Thailand? I'm not sure this is particularly consistent. Technically, Thailand was the only Southeast Asian country not to be colonized by Europe. I think we may need to broaden our definition of colonization.

2. 'Painstakingly molded" Brings to mind a sweatshop. And, unfortuantly, I bet those skilled Craftsmen weren't allowed to use this French Milled Pure Palm Oil Soap to clean the sweat off their brows either.

Maybe the soap company should reconsider its branding?
