Mr. Potter Just Saved Me $10

I have a t-shirt that makes reference to the Harry Potter series. The story of how I got the shirt is slightly long and convoluted and not particularly relevant to the story at hand so I will not dwell on it.

I also have a watch. The story of how i got the watch is similarly slightly long and convoluted and not particularly relevant to the story at hand, so I will not dwell on it either.

It is the interaction of the t-shirt and the watch that is the subject of this post. My watch had gotten a little too big for my wrist (or maybe my wrist had gotten a little too small for my watch?). I decided to take it down to the jewelry store in Barracks' Road to have a link taken out of it. I walk in the store and a woman greets me. "I need to have a link taken out of my watch," I say simply. "OK, I can do that for you. The charge is $10," she replies mechanically. The woman takes my watch and begins working on it. She quickly takes a link out, replaces the clasp and hands me back my watch to try on. She blatantly stares at my shirt (this is where the HP shirt comes in), reads it, and smiles. I ask her to make one further adjustment, she agrees. As she walks back to her repair station, she turns to me, "You know - I'm not going to charge you for this. It's on the house." A bit stunned, I reply, "well, thanks..."

As I take my finished watch from her, I look behind the counter again - and there it is: Harry Potter #7. Thank you Mr. Potter.
